WTT Middle East Hub: QTTA give wild cards to local players

DOHA: The Qatar Table Tennis Association (QTTA), who will host the WTT Middle East Hub in March, have included several local stars as wildcard entries from the qualifying rounds of WTT Contender and WTT Star Contender events.

Qatar international Ahmad Khalil Al Mohannadi received a wild card for the events at the Lusail Sports Arena.

The qualifying rounds for WTT Contender will be held from February 28-March 2 while the WTT Star Contender qualifiers will be March 6-March.

QTTA is permitted to use all of its three allocated wildcards (increased from one) to nominate any additional player from within the Top 20 to participate in the event.

Mohammed Abdulwahab was the other Qatari, who will get the opportunity to compete from the qualifiers along with unranked Ahmed Al Awlaqi.


In the women’s singles, four Qataris Maha Faramarzi, Maryam Ali, Maha Ali and Mohamed Ala secured wild card entries for the qualifying rounds of both WTT Contender and WTT Star Contender.


QTTA is allowed to put forward four wildcards (also increased from one). for the WTT Star Contender Doha.

The main draw for WTT Star Contender is from March 8-13 while the WTT Contender starts from March 3-6.
